Welcome to our Spring 2025 newsletter of the social scent company.
We welcome our new subscribers and it is nice to have you as part of our scent and floral community!
In typical spring fashion, we started the new season with beautiful sunny weather only to find ourselves with some unpredictable days of wind, rain and more rain and then some sprinkles of sunshine. We are looking forward to summer being around the corner though!
Despite the weather our gardens have burst into flower and we have loved having the annual display of tulips, cherry blossom and gorgeous fluffy ranunculus with all of their ruffles to be picking and filling our vases. We are trialing air drying some of the ranunculus to hopefully be able to use these in our wreath workshops coming up.
💐 A Little About Us
For those of you who are new to our community—welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.
Last newsletter we let you know a little about the three of us who make up the social scent company. This month a little more detail focusing on our very talented Helen.
Helen is the creative part of the team who produces all of our lovely art work for our products - from the drawings featured on our candle labels, the beautiful wedding stationery and wedding maps, through to the hand painted cards for our gift boxes.
Helen is also a wonder at sourcing all of the gorgeous sustainable packing we use across our range of products and for those special occasions like Easter and Mothers Day products. Keep an eye out on our social media for updates on her Christmas 2025 options.
In amongst all of this, Helen loves to discover new candle options, scents and making up your wonderful orders.
🌼Flower Highlight: Peonies
Mid- Spring sees the arrival of the much anticipated lush and showy peony bloom. We love the peony flowers in their lovely blush and coral shades, even though it is such a short season.

The fleeting season is part of the charm of peonies and why there is such excitement when they finally arrive. We are fortunate to have the right growing conditions in our Martinborough garden for peonies.
In the Language of Flowers, peonies represent love, romance, honour and devotion, with a belief they are an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage.
Check out our Peony scented Jardiniere Ceramic Teacup Spring special - $25 for a small teacup and $35.00 for a large teacup (shipping costs additional).
🕯️Workshops and Products for Every Occasion
We offer both scheduled and private group workshops—perfect for hens parties, baby showers, birthdays, or just a weekend with friends. Our workshops are mobile, child-friendly, and we can come to your place or a venue of your choice.

🌼New Scent

With the season of Spring being a time to celebrate new arrivals and a fresh outlook, it is the perfect opportunity to introduce you to a new lovely fragrance we have added to our signature scent range ’Kōwhai’.
The vibrant yellow bell-shaped kōwhai flower, in the Language of Flowers, symbolises New Beginnings - signifying strength and resilience and we love that the flower is from the iconic native tree, blooming in springtime.
The kōwhai fragrance has:
top notes of orange zest, lemon grass and citron.
mid notes of neroli and cinnamon leaf
dry notes of sandalwood, amber, white cedar and patchouli.
This fragrance is available across our product range and just select ‘Kōwhai’ as your chosen scent.
📖 Book Profile
If you are wanting to understand more about the Language of Flowers or looking for a gorgeous gift - ‘The Language of Flowers , A Miscellany’, by Mandy Kirby, is a perfect option.

In her book, Mandy Kirby has compiled a beautifully illustrated miscellany containing fifty profiled flowers, a dictionary searchable by emotion and ideas for creating arrangements for specific occasions.
We have copies of this book available on our website for purchase.
